Vientiane, Laos (April 17) - dust storm

Guild took us to a new dike on the Mekong to watch the sunset.
While standing about 50 yards away and down a flight of stairs from his truck, we noticed a dust storm coming down the river...fast.

We ran back to his truck, hopping into it literally seconds before the storm reached us. I shot the following three-pictures sequence through a window.  The time span was less than 30 seconds.

Visibility being even less than suggested by the pictures, we waited out the storm. After about fifteen minutes it abated. We were extremely glad that due to the hot weather (it was still 85-90) we had driven to the river rather than walked there.

BTW, the boys in the picture turned their motorbikes around and rode away with their back to the wind and the dust.
